How To Help The Victims Of The Connecticut School Shooting

Hello everyone, as I am sure you all know there has been a horrific school shooting that has taken place. New details are constantly emerging and I am sure that while we are all asking ourselves ‘Why?’ that we are all looking for ways to help the victims of the Newtown school shooting. I will be posting as many resources as I find to help out, please let me know if you see any that I miss.

UPDATE!! Danbury hospital now has a fund open where you can donate for medical expenses, etc. See this link or call 203- 739-7227 to help out. Here is the direct link to the donation page to the hospital. Simply put that it’s for the Newtown School shooting victims.

Additionally, if you or your child was a victim in this incident, there is a number you can call (24/7) for the hospitals crisis intervention services- 203-739-7007

Bears can be dropped off at Hersam Acorn’s office, 1000 Bridgeport Ave., second floor, Shelton starting Monday, Dec. 17. Any business or organization wishing to serve as a collection site or needs to arrange a collection should contact John Kovach at jkovach@hersamacorn.com.

Bears can be donated until Friday, Dec. 28.

There is a Christmas Vigil proposed. Asking for donated candles, etc. See here for more info.

There is a candlelight vigil being held in Oxford CT tonight.

There is a fund over on Indiegogo for funeral costs, counselling, toys for children traumatized.

TheItMom.com is asking that we all leave a candle or porch light on tonight to represent a prayer for healing and love for those affected by the shooting.

Imagination Soup has a post with how to help YOUR kids deal with this sort of tragedy.

Blee Inara will be donating profits from their shop this weekend to go for the families.

It looks like Indiegogo has exploded with a lot more funds for this cause. I urge you to check them out here and I will be posting a direct link to ones that catch my eye.

This fund is for healing through art. You are encouraged to additionally send art, photos, letters to the school to show your support.

*update!* If you are crafty, here are two more ways to express your support!

There is a Quilt Shop that is asking for people to help donate 600 homemade pillow cases.

The PTA is looking for snow flakes to be sent in to turn the school into a winter wonderland! ( Thanks Leah!)

I also wanted to take a moment to shed a little light on some of the people have reached out to help. If you know of anyone who has gone out of their way to help, please let me know so that we can spread the word.

The Matthews Casket Company of Hamden, CT is willing to furnish all 26 families caskets at no charge to the funeral director and or family (Thank you Amy, for letting us know.)

Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk has also said even though they are not close they are willing and can be counted on. Thank you to them
